Looking Forward to 2021
It’s been a while since I last posted on here, so much so that we’ve entered a new year. So the question has to be asked: “how can you run a beer blog if you don’t blog.?” The simple answer is – getting a job – in the leisure industry – in the worst health pandemic since 1918 has been no easy task!
Since my last blog in October a lot has happened.
I have moved out of my parents home, to London, to start my ‘career’ in the bartending and craft alcohol industry. Two weeks in, tier 4 restrictions were introduced – then another national lockdown. I now have some time on my hands and not a lot of money – as I don’t qualify for the furlough scheme.
So where do I work, when I can work? I work as a bartender at “The Princess” Of Shoreditch, a gastropub come bar that specialises in game meat, artisan spirits and cocktails.
As I’ve said, I haven’t been good at writing blogs recently. In part, this is because I haven’t been drinking a lot of beer, however, I have been drinking and trying a lot of spirits and cocktails. So for this new year I am going to take this blog in a more rounded direction. I am still going to be writing about and reviewing craft beer, shops, and bars but I’m going to add more to the mix
I still be writing about beers and spirits but, as part of the new direction, I’ll start talking about cocktail recipes; the importance of different ingredients, pairings, and the history of both spirits and the cocktails.
I’m hoping that we can learn the art of cocktails together.
